At its recent annual meeting, the ISO TC8/SC12 Large Yachts group established a new working group for environment and sustainability. At this same meeting, Robert van Tol, our executive director, was appointed as convener of this new working group.
This is another great milestone for Water Revolution Foundation as this position puts us in the driver’s seat of ISO standards in this field, enabling us to standardise the tools Water Revolution Foundation develops, and, as we already mobilize the industry for joint industry projects, these meetings can be combined for efficiency.
‘Sustainability in Practice’ is a management course tailored to the superyacht industry and takes place on 19 November 2019 during and kindly provided by METSTRADE in Amsterdam. This is the first course of Water Revolution’s educational programme. More editions will be held at later dates.
The course provider is Centre for Sustainability & Excellence (CSE) who are renowned for their management courses for sustainability and have trained 90% of Fortune 500 companies.
This tailored one-day course is very pragmatic and aimed at lowering the barrier to start a sustainability programme inside a company tomorrow, and provides attendees with useful tools and tips.
The price for this one-day course is set at €370, and for an additional €380, an exam assignment can be submitted to earn an official course certificate.
The course is capped at 18 seats. Please use the form below to secure your place. We will be in touch to confirm and arrange payment.
Water Revolution Foundation is proud to announce that METSTRADE is the foundation’s first strategic trade show partner. METSTRADE, the world’s largest B2B leisure marine and superyacht equipment show, has supported Water Revolution Foundation from the very beginning. One of Water Revolution Foundation’s key activities is to promote new sustainable technology and empower innovation – something very much in line with the various pavilions and labs METSTRADE facilitates during its annual trade show.
“We’re keen about sustainability and when we heard about Water Revolution’s mission to reduce the ecological footprint of the superyachting industry, the question wasn’t whether we should support the foundation, but rather, how,” said Irene Dros, Maritime Director of METSTRADE. As the linking pin between innovative, sustainable technologies and the global yachting industry, the two organisations will work together to promote and find sustainable solutions for the yachting industry to reduce its ecological footprint.
Robert van Tol, executive director of Water Revolution Foundation, spoke with Diane M. Byrne for the Megayacht News Radio podcast.
During this podcast, Robert and Diane discussed the following key issues:
How Water Revolution Foundation is different than other environmental-minded organisations
Why the founders believe that taking action now, and maintaining focus on actionable items, can help future-proof yachting for both the industry and owners
How the organization aims to become a central resource, for a range of different parties
How the yachting industry can borrow sustainability best practices that area already proven in other industries.
Our enthusiastic founding board met in Monaco during the Monaco Ocean Week at the end of March to put the initial plans in place. Learn more about this group of key figures from the superyacht industry and experts in their respective fields here.
