Lorenzo Pollicardo, SYBAss’ technical and environmental director, explores why the superyacht market should push beyond legislation to find genuine inspiration in the new issue of The Superyacht Report.
“Environmental concerns have been even more under the spotlight in recent months, with governing bodies looking with a critical eye on polluting industries – and this includes maritime.
Superyachts are not exempt from this conversation, and with the new Tier III regulation coming into force in 2021, the industry is at a crossroads.”

Robert van Tol, Water Revolution’s executive director, explores why yachts should engage in ocean research in the new issue of The Superyacht Report.
“Considering that the oceans are at the heart of the superyachting lifestyle, it’s only logical for the industry to engage in ocean research. If you think about it, with a fleet of more than 1,700 yachts
over 40 metres, all professionally crewed, migrating around the world, it’s not stretching the imagination to suggest that we can be a fleet of laboratories – a scientific force that could make a significant contribution to the greater good. Not only would this improve the perception of yachting, it would also engage a whole new audience of charterers and owners. May I go so far as to coin a new trend of #purposefulyachting?”

Black Pearl’s project manager, Derek Munro, outlines how the vessel’s credentials can act as a blueprint for greener yachting in the new issue of The Superyacht Report.
“Technology is advancing incredibly quickly and the options for making any vessel much more eco-friendly (whether it is sailing yacht or motoryacht) are numerous. This could be 100 per cent (or a large percentage) fossil-fuel-free if you’re a motoryacht client.”
