The success of the YETI method rests on the intersection of the yachting industry and environmental sustainability science…
Our Yacht Environmental Transparency Index (YETI) Webinar Series continues with Episode 3, exploring the core scientific methodologies used to assess and mitigate the environmental impact of yachts with a focus on energy demand.
YETI Webinar Series
This 6-episode series shares the background, scientific approach, and practical application of the YETI method. Episode 1 introduced YETI’s inception, goals, and collaborative journey, while Episode 2 explored the core methodology and technical complexities of this approach.
Episode 3
In this episode, taking place via Zoom on Thursday, 27 June, 2024, 15:00-15:45 CET, we’ll discuss how to translate yachts’ energy demand and sources – think fuel, shore power based on global energy grid, sail power, and solar power – into environmental impact using EcoPoints and the ReCiPe Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology. Discover how the YETI assessment goes beyond CO2 and greenhouse gases in anticipation of more stringent environmental legislations, and the crucial role of expert institutes in making the method credible and unique.
Featured speakers include our Vice-Chair & Initiator Dr. Vienna Eleuteri, in-house Environmental Expert Awwal Idris, and specialists from our partnering research institues, who bring deep scientific knowledge of the environmental assessments behind the YETI method.
Programme outline
3 more webinars will be offered following this episode, with dates for the follow-up sessions TBD:
4. Interpreting Your YETI Score: Data Input & Outcomes
5. YETI in Action: Assess & Upgrade the Existing Fleet
6. Optimising with YETI: Improving New Build Projects with Environmental Insights
Cost
Each session is priced at €25, with proceeds directed towards ongoing YETI project developments (e.g. software creation). Foundation partners may attend free of cost.
To pre-register for the remaining 4 sessions all at once and receive a 25% discount on the total cost, please send us an email at info@waterrevolutionfoundation.org.
Kindly RSVP here before Friday, 14 June to secure your spot, as seats are limited.
Understanding the process of how annual energy demand translates to yachting’s impact on the environment is essential in order to mitigate it, thus we sincerely hope to see you there.
